Faculty Overview

Training polyvalent nurses for tomorrow's healthcare

The Faculty of Nursing Sciences was established in 2023 as part of the university's commitment to providing world-class healthcare education — made possible through the vision of the Senate, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Taiwo Olufemi Asaolu, and the University Governing Council, chaired by the Pro-Chancellor, Hon. Gbenga Onigbogi.

The Faculty offers a Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSc): a comprehensive, dynamic curriculum designed to produce polyvalent graduate nurses equipped with advanced scientific and technological knowledge, structured to meet evolving patient and societal healthcare needs. Teaching is delivered by full-time, part-time and adjunct lecturers, supported by dedicated non-academic staff, in well-equipped classrooms and laboratories that pair theory with hands-on clinical training.

Vision

Guiding Belief

Philosophy of Nursing Education

"Nursing is both an art and a science — centred on caring for individuals as bio-psycho-social beings within their families, communities and nations."

Meeting these health needs is the core focus of nursing practice. As a science, nursing is rooted in the study of human behaviour, guided by research, and applied through evidence-based interventions across primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare. The Faculty's framework draws on the theories of renowned nursing scholars, fostering critical thinking, ethical practice and self-directed, lifelong learning.
